Overview
Because of their excellent educational standards, UK universities are regarded as some of the greatest in the world. The main draws for overseas students studying in the UK are the excellent employment opportunities and high degree of skill development. The PSW (Post Study Work) visa is one of the many benefits of studying in the UK. After graduating from a UK university, all overseas students are permitted to work in the country for three years. International students typically have three intakes in the UK: January, May, and September.International students must demonstrate their fluency in English because the UK is an English-speaking nation and the majority of its universities provide English-taught courses. Many overseas students believe that their IELTS exam score is the sole requirement for admission to UK universities. That being said, a few of UK colleges accept applications from overseas students without an IELTS score.
What is IELTS?
IELTS is an English proficiency test that is recognised by almost all universities abroad. The test contains four modules, i.e., speaking, writing, listening, and reading. Each module helps to determine an individual’s English language skills. The maximum band that one can score in IELTS is 9. The score of IELTS is valid for 2 years. The exam is valid for taking admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD level courses.
Requirements for Admission to UK Universities Without Taking the English Proficiency Test (IELTS)
There are various options through which UK Universities assess the English language skills of an international student. Some of the criteria on which universities consider application are:
MOI (Medium of Instruction)
International students do not need to take the IELTS exam in order to study in the UK if they have previously attended English-medium schools. Students need to get a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate from an earlier educational institution in order to demonstrate their English competence.
English scores of class 12th
Certain UK institutions provide requirements whereby a foreign student can be admitted straight to the university without having to take an English proficiency exam, provided they meet a minimum score in the English language course in class 12. Universities may additionally demand the 10th class grades in some unusual instances.
Interview
International students may be asked to participate in an online interview by some UK universities. The university’s admissions team evaluates a student’s English language proficiency during this interview.

The PTE score needed for admission differs depending on the university and the subject.
